Internationally renowned students
What it takes to study with talented, curious, and passionate students from across the globe, right here at UC Irvine.
International Admission
The admissions process for international students varies from the process for California resident applicants, so make sure to review the requirements below before applying.
Message Regarding Agents and Consultants
UC Irvine does not partner with agents to represent the University or to administer any part of the application process. We do not endorse this practice or encourage applicants to utilize third party services and require applicants to complete and submit their applications themselves. Discovery that an agent or consultant submitted an application on behalf of an applicant may lead to rejection of that application or a rescinded offer of admission.
International First-Year Applicants
First-year applicants are students who:
• Will complete their secondary education and earn a certificate of completion, equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma, that enables you to be admitted to a university in your home country.
• Have never been enrolled at a college or university after graduating from high school.
International Transfer Students
A transfer applicant is a student who has already completed some courses at a college or university after finishing secondary school. If you are currently studying at a university, or have studied at one before, you are considered a transfer applicant.
What is Comprehensive Review?
UC Irvine considers exam scores and predicted results as one part of the application, but they are not the only factors used in making an admissions decision. Instead, we seek well-rounded, academically competitive students with a proven record of curiosity, dedication, and passion. A full list of approved selection criteria can be found below.
